Centering the voices of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and, other underserved groups.

Mission:

Narrative Therapy MKE is a woman-owned therapy organization. Our mission is to create a space where underserved groups (people of color, veterans, men etc) are able to tell their stories, be heard, respected and be guided to live their life in more preferred ways.

Vision:

Narrative Therapy MKE’s vision is that individuals are able to live a life with dignity without war, without prejudice and oppression due to their sexual or gender identity, their race, nor to stigma regarding their mental health.

Our Worldview

Narrative Therapy MKE unapologetically support a ceasefire in Palestine and is against all genocide. We believe in acceptance and support of those in the LGBTQIA+ community and however they want to live their life with dignity. We believe black lives matter and that we must believe in the voices of black and brown individuals.

Special Note on Veterans

Veterans are also one of the underserved groups in the community. Our approach to working with the population is rooted in understanding of military culture. Bao Yang’s expertise comes from working as a Clinical Social Worker for WDVA (Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs), as well as being on the executive board as the Clinical Committee Chair for the Southwest Wisconsin Veteran Suicide Prevention Task Force. The task force, in partnership with the federal Veterans Affair, seeks to work toward decreasing veteran suicides. Our  agency’s mission is to provide services to veterans while understanding the impact of military culture, moral injury, military sexual trauma, and stigma attached to being a veteran with mental health issues. We also have an understanding of the VA systems that can support and/or be a hinderance to veterans receiving care.

You’re here for therapeutic conversations that understand your problems exist in the context of unjust systems.

Founder, Psychotherapist, MSW, LCSW

Nyob Zoo (Hello)

I am a 2nd generation Hmong American. I created Narrative Therapy MKE to be a space for people, like you, who are searching for a place to fully breath and organize your thoughts (and story) in more meaningful ways.

This is a space for people, like you, from all walks of life who not only notice their problems, but can see it within the context of a complex, systemic, world. You, yourself, are a complex person living within systems and intersectionality of race, class, gender, culture, sexual orientation, etc.

I strive to center the voices of the client over my own in the therapy room. Clients often tell me that I create a space for THEM to connect with inner wisdom when responding to the problems in their lives.

Hello

I am passionate about mental health and strive to provide a non-judgmental space for adults who are dealing with anxiety, depression, life stressors, trauma and more.

I am especially passionate about breaking down stigma around men’s mental health to help men overcome unique challenge to thrive mentally and emotionally.

Additionally, my clinical experience includes providing treatment to adults across the age spectrum.

When I am not in session, I enjoy weight lifting and spending time with my dog Wanda and my cat Penny.
